Waxwings in the area

waxwing-26The picture wasn’t taken in Whalley Range, but only a bit to the north. This is one of 3 Waxwings that have come from the taiga in the far north to feast on apples at Hulme Garden Centre. Easy to see from the road – they’ve been there a few days and, while there are fruit available, they will probably stay. This picture was taken yesterday. There are quite a few of them around Manchester, so keep your eye out wherever there are berries or fruit. Cotoneaster bushes in supermarket car parks are favourite.
