Collection of Radio 4 programmes on trees

A wonderful treat for the festive season: Radio 4’s collection of programmes devoted to trees in response to the Ash tree dieback disease.

The collection ranges across science, poetry, mythology of Iceland and the Scottish islands, and a programme on the healing power of trees that I very much looking forward to listening to.

Another fascinating (and timely, given the Alex park renovation plans) inclusion is a Nature episode from 2007 assessing the future of urban trees, asking whether our contemporary fear of trees and fear of the risks they pose is putting the Victorian legacy of the urban forest in jeopardy.

The poetry programme is only available for a few more hours, but I’ve recorded it and will provide a link to the audio file soon
