film about nature in Whalley Range

A small group of us are working together to make a short film about our relationship with nature in Whalley Range.

This is a project with Greater Manchester Local Record Centre, who received Heritage Lottery Fund money to do various activities with the public. The film will be available online and maybe also included in a display at Manchester Museum in the Living Worlds gallery.

Last Sunday we received training in wildlife filming from Dave Winnard and have a video camera on loan for the next 6 months, so we can film nature through the seasons.

A few days ago when it was a clear sky, I managed to get some great footage out my window of bats flying past with an almost full moon in the background and sound from the bat detector. Was really great fun. I’ll post some photos or short clips soon.

We’re keen to involve other people – do you have a connection to wildlife that feels special to you? If you so we’d love to hear about it and perhaps include your story in our film.
