moths and leaf mines in Alexandra Park

Kev the moth man visited Alexandra Park on 6th Oct to record leaf mines – the damage in the leaf caused by moths laying eggs and larvae feeding.

Kev can tell from looking at the mines which species of moth is responsible. He found evidence of 36 different moth species – click here to view the list.

We’ll organise a proper public event next summer/autumn doing moth trapping and leaf mine recording.
